The phone company offers a service called "Ring-Mate", "Ring-Master" or "Identa-Ring." This service provides a second number to the same phone line, distinguished by a different ring pattern (usually a double ring).

When you buy this service and program your fax machine to the new ring pattern, the fax machine will answer only the calls that come in with this ring. All calls with the standard ring are ignored and are picked up by you or by your voice mail.

There may be an additional charge from the phone company for this service, and the service may not be available in all calling areas. See your phone company for details.
